“Drawing in Italy’s Umbria Region” is led by Davide Prete and Lynn Sures. The experience combines focused drawing instruction with guided visits to Italian sites of remarkable history, landscape, and culture—an immersive week of making work on location with expert guidance.

Course Description

Cost (depending on your housing request at Il Poderaccio) includes: tuition for a week of drawing experiences with personal instruction; pick up and drop off from Fabro Scalo train station to the Villa Il Poderaccio; 7-night stay in a room suite at La Villa Il Poderaccio (see accommodations and “Plus 1” options below); all drawing materials for the workshop; all local transportation for our all-day drawing excursions to evocative hill towns and characteristic Umbrian locales; a final exhibition of drawings at Il Poderaccio; continental breakfast; and dinners at restaurants and at Il Poderaccio (as scheduled).

Tour does not include: round-trip transportation (airfare) from the U.S. to Fabro, Italy.

Payment is made through electronic payment.
To complete your registration, please submit your $500 deposit (USD). After the course is confirmed, the remaining balance will be due via the secure payment link.

Participation in this trip includes considerable walking, including in steep hill towns and uneven terrain. If a participant must miss time during the tour, there are no make-up classes, materials, or field trips. The work you create during the course is your own to keep. Davide and Lynn may photograph your work for workshop documentation. The itinerary is subject to unforeseen minor adjustments.

Travel Insurance

The cost does NOT include travel insurance. Most travel insurance plans include coverage for trip cancellation and interruption, emergency medical expenses and transportation, lost or damaged baggage, and 24/7 travel assistance. Participants are strongly advised to purchase travel insurance prior to travel.

Confirmation Policy

The trip will be confirmed as soon as the class reaches the required number of participants. At that time, participants will be advised that it is appropriate to purchase airfare.

Cancellation Policy

Participants will not receive a refund after registering (deposit or full payment) unless the study trip is canceled. If the trip is canceled by the Directors, participants will receive an immediate and full refund.

This program is organized and administered exclusively by Davide Prete, LLC. Davide Prete and Lynn Sures act as instructors and representatives of Davide Prete, LLC in the delivery of the program. Il Poderaccio is solely the lodging facility utilized for accommodations and select activities and bears no responsibility for the organization, instruction, supervision, or administration of the program.

ACCIDENT WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

I understand that participation in this program involves inherent risks, including but not limited to risks associated with international travel, walking in steep hill towns, transportation by train or vehicle, weather conditions, physical exertion, and participation in cultural and artistic activities.

Assumption of Risk

I voluntarily assume all risks of participating in any and all activities associated with this program, including risks arising from negligence or carelessness on the part of the Released Parties (defined below), defective equipment or property, acts or omissions of third parties, or conditions beyond anyone’s control.

Medical Fitness

I certify that I am physically and mentally capable of participating in this program and that I have not been advised by a qualified medical professional to refrain from participation. I acknowledge that I am responsible for my own health and medical care.

Released Parties

For purposes of this Agreement, Released Parties include: Davide Prete, LLC; Davide Prete; Lynn Sures; Il Poderaccio and its owners, operators, and staff; and any affiliated partners, employees, volunteers, contractors, drivers, transportation providers, lodging providers, restaurants, venues, guides, or third-party service providers involved in the program.

Release and Waiver of Liability

In consideration of being permitted to participate in this program, I hereby waive, release, and discharge the Released Parties from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action of any kind arising out of or related to my participation, including but not limited to injury, illness, disability, death, property loss, theft, or damage, whether occurring during travel to or from the program or during participation in program activities.

Indemnification

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising from my participation in the program, whether caused by my actions or the actions of others.

Independent and Optional Activities

I understand that participation in any independent, optional, or unscheduled activities, including personal travel, dining, sightseeing, recreational activities, or deviations from the group itinerary, is undertaken entirely at my own risk. The Released Parties assume no responsibility or liability for such activities.

Force Majeure / Uncontrollable Events

I acknowledge that circumstances beyond the control of the Released Parties—including but not limited to weather conditions, acts of God, pandemics, public health emergencies, transportation delays or strikes, political instability, or government restrictions—may affect the program. I agree that the Released Parties shall not be liable for any resulting changes, delays, interruptions, or cancellations.

Medical Consent

I hereby consent to receive emergency medical treatment deemed necessary in the event of injury, accident, or illness during the program, and I understand that I am financially responsible for any medical services rendered.

Photography and Documentation Consent

I grant permission to the Released Parties to photograph, video record, or otherwise document my participation and any artwork created during the program for educational, archival, or promotional purposes, without compensation.

Governing Law and Venue

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any legal action arising from this Agreement shall be brought exclusively in the courts located within the District of Columbia.

Acknowledgment

I acknowledge that I have read this document in its entirety, fully understand its contents, and understand that this is a release of liability and a legally binding contract.

By registering for the program, I agree to these terms voluntarily and of my own free will.
